Baramulla, Jan. 9 -- Authorities have ordered the temporary closure of the vital Uri-Baramulla highway on Sunday, January 11, due to concerns over potential landslides triggered by scheduled hill-cutting work.
An official order, a copy of which lies with Kashmir News Service (KNS), reads that the decision was made at the request of the Officer Commanding of 53 RCC (GREF). In a communication dated January 9, 2026, the officer indicated that essential hill-cutting operations are planned at two locations: Danakha Mode (Design Chainage 65+600) and NS Bridge, Uri (Design Chainage 102+800).
