Srinagar, Sept. 5 -- Amid social media claims that traffic police had moved their vehicles to elevated spots to safeguard them from floodwaters, SSP Traffic (City) Aijaz Ahmad on Friday denied the allegation, calling it "not based on facts" and stressing that the force's presence remains focused on public service.

"We have placed our vehicle in a high ground for the safety of the people. Clear instructions have been given that if anyone places their vehicle or goods in a high ground for safety, then we have to secure it," Ahmad told reporters. "Traffic police is for the service of the people and will always be."
