Srinagar, Oct. 18 -- In a major breakthrough, Srinagar Police has arrested six long-time absconders who had been evading the law for several years, with some on the run for more than two decades. The arrests are part of an intensified crackdown on fugitives and proclaimed offenders across the district.

According to police, a special team was formed after receiving specific intelligence inputs. The team launched a targeted operation that led to the successful apprehension of the absconders, all of whom were wanted in various criminal cases registered at different police stations in Srinagar.

The arrested individuals include Mehraj-ud-Din Marazi of Sonwar, who was absconding for 11 years in a narcotics case registered at PS Lalbazar. Anot...
