Opposition Leaders Decry Erosion of Democracy as Kejriwal Arrested, Says Omar Abdullah
Srinagar, March 22 -- Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, voiced concerns over the state of democracy in India following the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
Abdullah, the vice president of National Conference highlighted a pattern of arbitrary detentions targeting opposition figures, citing recent arrests of leaders from various states.
He said that the arrest of Kejriwal comes on the heels of similar actions against prominent opposition figures, including the sitting Chief Minister of Jharkhand and his Deputy in previous instances.
