Srinagar, Dec. 11 -- J&K Legislative Assembly member Tanvir Sadiq on Thursday expressed deep concern over reports of nitrofuran and nitroimidazole residues being detected in eggs, calling the presence of these banned drugs in food-producing animals a serious public health risk.

Nitrofuran and nitroimidazole are strictly prohibited in food-producing animals due to their carcinogenic and toxic effects.

Sadiq highlighted that eggs are widely consumed by children, senior citizens, and patients, and are often prescribed by doctors as a primary source of protein, making this a potential health hazard.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
