Srinagar, July 14 -- Advisor to the Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani, on Monday said that the way restrictions were imposed on political leaders and workers on July 13 was deeply disappointing and an unprecedented move in India's democratic setup.

"I have never seen such a thing in the federal structure of India where a nominated system shuts down an elected government," Wani said, referring to the restrictions placed on political gatherings to commemorate July 13, 1931, a date widely observed in Jammu and Kashmir for its historical significance.
