Srinagar, Feb. 15 -- Social activist Ahmad Ayaz has reiterated the demand for a liquor ban in Jammu and Kashmir, questioning the sincerity of the National Conference (NC) in addressing the issue.

In a statement issued to KNS, he stated that while the demand for prohibition has been raised multiple times, NC has not taken concrete steps to implement it.

According to Ayaz, the liquor ban is essential not only due to religious considerations but also because of the rising substance abuse problem in the region. "Alcohol addiction is becoming a major concern in J&K, particularly among the youth. With limited employment opportunities, many are turning to substance abuse, and unrestricted availability of liquor worsens the situation," he said....
