Srinagar, Dec. 12 -- Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir, Dr Molvi Mohammad Umar Farooq, on Friday expressed concern over recent arrests in connection with decades-old cases, urging the state government to review the handling of such matters.

Speaking at the weekly Friday congregation at Jama Masjid Srinagar, the religious leader, as per the statement, said that the continued detention of individuals, some of whom have been disengaged from past activities for years, has caused anxiety among their families.

He noted that thousands of Kashmiri prisoners are currently lodged in jails both within and outside Jammu and Kashmir, with some serving sentences for extended periods.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
