The residents of Audoora and Drugsoo areas of Mawer have urged the Deputy Commissioner Kupwara not to allow the setting up of stone crushers in the area.

The residents have apprehensions that the stone crushers will have a bad impact and that some influential people are trying to set up the stone crushers in the locality.

We are solely dependent on agriculture and horticulture land. Also, the Nallah Mawer, which is known for its trout fish, will be adversely affected," they said

A local resident who wished not to be named told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that the majority of the population of the area falls under the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category.
