Srinagar, June 13 -- PDP leader Zuhaib Yousuf Mir has said that while he often disagrees with the BJP, he supports the recent proposal to make Urdu optional in certain competitive exams. He stressed that in a diverse state like Jammu and Kashmir, no language should be made mandatory.

In a post on X, Mir argued that diversity should be respected and language should not become a symbol of dominance. "In a region like ours, nothing should be mandatory-especially language," he said, adding that "no one culture should feel hegemony over the other."

While acknowledging the historical importance of Urdu in land records and administration, he said technology and AI will speed up the translation process.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelF...
