Bandipora, Dec. 1 -- In a significant enforcement action against illegal mineral extraction, the Department of Geology and Mining, in close coordination with the Bandipora Police, conducted a major joint raid in the Zalwan area of Bandipora. The operation was launched following credible inputs about unauthorized extraction and transportation of minor minerals from the region.
According to officials, the enforcement team reached the site early in the day and found active illegal mining underway. The team acted immediately, halting the ongoing extraction and intercepting multiple vehicles involved in transporting the material. During the raid, 14 tractors and 2 tippers used for unlawful mineral transportation were seized on the spot.
