New Delhi, April 2 -- The Lok Sabha on Wednesday took up the Waqf (Amendment) Bill for consideration and passing, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah defending the government's approach towards legislative scrutiny.

During the debate, Amit Shah responded to the opposition's concerns about the bill and the role of parliamentary committees in legislative processes. He emphasized that the present government follows a democratic approach in committee deliberations, unlike the past practices of the Congress.
