Leh, Oct. 2 -- The Administration of Ladakh has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the killing of four civilians in Leh on September 24 during protests demanding statehood and inclusion under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution.

According to an order, the District Magistrate, Leh, has appointed Mukul Beniwal (IAS), Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Nubra, as the Inquiry Officer to conduct a detailed investigation into the matter.

The purpose of the inquiry is to ascertain the circumstances that led to the law and order disturbance, examine the nature of the police response, and determine how the deaths occurred.
