Anantnag, Nov. 7 -- In a strong move to uphold the authority of the judiciary, the Principal District Judge Anantnag, Tahir Khurshid Raina, has summoned the Commissioner Secretary of the Irrigation and Flood Control Department to personally appear before the court and explain why he should not be sent to civil prison for failing to execute multiple court decrees.

The court has also directed the Chief Engineer, Superintending Engineer, and Executive Engineer of the department to ensure their personal presence on the next hearing date. The officers have been asked to explain why the decrees pending for the last five years have not been implemented.
