Srinagar, Feb. 14 -- In a high-profile cheque dishonour case involving a financial dispute over land dealing, a local court here has convicted a Budgam resident, sentencing him to one year of simple imprisonment and imposing a hefty fine of ?1.44 crore. However, in a dramatic turn of events, the convict absconded immediately after the judgment was pronounced.
