Srinagar, Oct. 30 -- The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Wednesday passed four key bills aimed at reforming tenancy laws, strengthening the Panchayati Raj system, improving labour welfare, and enhancing efficiency in the cooperative sector.

The first, The Jammu and Kashmir Tenancy Bill, 2025 (L.A. Bill No. 4 of 2025), seeks to establish a Rent Authority in the Union Territory. The Bill aims to regulate the renting of premises, balance the rights of landlords and tenants, and ensure speedy adjudication of tenancy-related disputes.
