Tehran, June 28 -- Iran has strongly condemned former U.S. President Donald Trump for his recent remarks about the country's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Saturday called Trump's comments "disrespectful and unacceptable" after the former U.S. President claimed he had saved Khamenei from being assassinated.

"If President Trump truly wants a deal, he must stop insulting our Supreme Leader and hurting the sentiments of millions of his followers," Araghchi said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

In a sharp response, Araghchi added, "The proud Iranian people, who proved that Israel had no choice but to run to 'Daddy' for protection from our missiles, will not tolerate threats and insults....
