Srinagar, Aug. 1 -- The Government of India on Friday said that it launched Operation Sindoor in response to the Pahalgam terror attack carried out by Pakistan-sponsored terrorists on April 22, 2025 which specifically targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).

The information was provided in a written reply by the Ministry of External Affairs in the Lok Sabha. The government stated that decisive military and diplomatic measures were taken immediately following the attack, which claimed multiple lives and triggered national outrage, especially in Jammu and Kashmir.
