Jammu, April 11 -- The Jammu and Kashmir Health and Medical Education Department has banned the private practice of Dr Hanief Dar, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at Government Medical College (GMC), Srinagar.

Dr Dar has performed 1,807 surgeries exclusively in private hospitals under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) and AB PMJAY SEHAT schemes. Notably, none of these procedures were recorded at GMC Srinagar, where he is employed as a full-time faculty member.
