Jammu, July 9 -- Srinagar, July 9 (KNS) The Group of Concerned Citizens (GCC) has raised alarm over a landfill site that it says poses a threat to public health and the environment. In a recent meeting with the Divisional Commissioner, the group highlighted that residents in areas such as Eidgah, Lal Bazar, Soura, and even SKIMS Hospital may be exposed to harmful gases being emitted from the site.

"These gases can cause cancer, respiratory issues, infertility, and other health problems," the group stated, urging authorities to conduct an immediate survey of gas levels in affected areas. They also called for regular air quality monitoring until a long-term solution is implemented.
