Jammu, Aug. 20 -- AICC General Secretary G.A. Mir on Wednesday said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir, the opposition, and the INDIA bloc were expecting the Union Government to bring an amendment in the Reorganization Act during the monsoon session that would pave the way for restoration of statehood but BJP is trying to do something different.

Talking to media Mir, said that the restoring statehood was not just a demand but also a commitment made by the Prime Minister, and Parliament. "The promise was that as soon as elections are held, statehood would be restored and people would get their powers back. Everyone's attention was on that," he said.
