Srinagar, Jan. 3 -- Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Akshay Labroo, on Saturday said that agriculture and the allied sector remain the backbone of the Kashmir division, especially in rural areas, where government schemes play a key role in strengthening livelihoods.
Speaking to reporters on sidelines of symbolic launch of a vaccination drive, the DC said that the entire sheep population of Srinagar district will be vaccinated against Foot and Mouth Disease within one month, free of cost, as part of a mission-mode initiative led by the District Sheep Husbandry Department.
Labroo said the drive has been started in a mission mode under the supervision of the District Sheep Officer, and was launched symbolically on Saturday.
