Srinagar, Aug. 15 -- Jammu and Kashmir People's Conference (JKPC) chief and Handwara MLA Sajad Lone on urged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to move a formal resolution on statehood in the Legislative Assembly rather than pursuing a door-to-door signature campaign.
In a detailed post on X, Lone said his party supports any movement towards statehood but questioned the legal and constitutional value of a signature campaign. He said the Supreme Court should be approached as a constitutional entity, not through what he called "Tom, Dick and Harry" methods. "Signature campaigns have no legal or constitutional sanctity," he wrote.
