Srinagar, Jan. 25 -- A fire erupted in the Zaloora Forests of North Kashmir's Baramulla district on Wednesday evening, posing a severe threat to the green cover.

The blaze, reported at 5 pm in compartment number 23 of Kandi Kamraj Division, is on the verge of spreading to more areas

The fire has already damaged a substantial portion of forest compartment 23, putting a large number of trees at risk.

This unfortunate incident marks the second occurrence of a massive forest fire in the area this year, linking Sopore with the kupwara Range.

Despite attempts to contact the concerned Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Zahid Mughal, for comments, our calls went unanswered.
