Srinagar, Jan. 3 -- Expressing deep concern over the growing drug addiction crisis in Jammu and Kashmir, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg, on Saturday said that the problem has tripled in the last three and a half years, with heroin consumption rapidly increasing among youth.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a Drug De-Addiction Awareness Programme at IMHANS, Garg said that addiction has become a major social challenge and a warning signal for the entire society.

"We have seen that drug addiction has become a big problem for all of us. This problem has multiplied three times in the last 3.5 years. The consumption of heroin is increasing among youth. This is a warning signal for society," he said.
