Srinagar, July 9 -- Health & Medical Education Minister Sakina Itoo on Wednesday said that the shortage of doctors in healthcare institutions, including GMC Baramulla, remains a challenge but efforts are underway to address it.
She said that the government has already taken steps to improve doctor availability, including the recent appointment of 500 new doctors who are being posted to remote areas to strengthen patient care.
She said the issue of insufficient senior medical staff during emergency situations affects patient outcomes, especially when the first point of contact is an inexperienced doctor. She said this concern is being looked into and measures are being taken gradually.
