-Sonawari MLA Hilal Akbar Lone on Thursday said that the Congress party did not seek the support of the National Conference (NC) before demanding the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir's statehood. He added that such a move, without the involvement of NC and broader public support, "does not mean anything on its own."

Lone made the remarks while speaking to reporters during a visit to Kulhama village in north Kashmir's Bandipora district. The area falls under his constituency, and residents have long complained of being ignored by successive administrations.
