Srinagar, July 4 -- Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday said that agriculture remains central to the economy, identity, and culture of Jammu and Kashmir. He was speaking at the 6th Convocation of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K) held at the Shalimar Convention Centre in Srinagar.

He said the institution reflects the vision of Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah, which is seen today in its labs, lecture halls, and research stations. He added that SCOSS has led research in temperate horticulture, high-altitude farming, animal husbandry, and organic practices. "This university is not just producing graduates, it is producing grassroots problem solvers," Abdullah said.
