New Delhi, June 10 -- The Central Government has approved an additional ?25 crore as compensation for houses damaged due to Pakistani shelling in the border areas of Jammu and Kashmir during Operation Sindoor.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently announced extra financial help for families affected by the shelling. As a special measure, ?2 lakh will be given for each fully damaged house and ?1 lakh for each partially damaged one.

After PM Modi's announcement, Union Home Minister Amit Shah ensured the quick release of ?25 crore from the Ministry of Home Affairs for 2,060 affected houses, according to an official statement.

The same type of compensation will also be provided to affected families in the border areas of Punjab.
