Jammu, July 12 -- The inhabitants of Banger Mohalla in Hajin town of North Kashmir's Bandipora district have expressed strong resentment over the absence of a proper drainage system in the locality, which they say has left them suffering during even brief spells of rainfall.

Residents said that Wednesday's rainfall once again exposed the lack of basic civic infrastructure, with lanes in the area inundated and daily life brought to a standstill. "We can't move out of our homes as the entire locality is waterlogged. Children are unable to attend school and are confined within the four walls of their homes," said Aisha, a local resident.
