Srinagar, Dec. 20 -- Anticipating rain and snowfall in the upper reaches, authorities on Friday imposed traffic restrictions on the Tangmarg-Gulmarg road, barring the movement of heavy vehicles and those without anti-skid chains to avert accidents and traffic chaos.

Officials said the restriction will come into effect immediately with the onset of rain or snowfall and will remain in force until weather conditions improve. Only vehicles equipped with anti-skid chains will be allowed to ply on the stretch during adverse weather, they said.
