Srinagar, Jan. 31 -- Several Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) workers were detained on Friday while attempting to stage a day-long hunger strike in Srinagar, demanding the release of Baramulla MP Engineer Rashid.
The protest was initially planned at Pratap Park in Lal Chowk but was denied permission by district authorities. As a result, AIP members gathered at Sangarmal Shopping Complex, where police were already present. The protesters, including Rashid's son Abrar, were taken into custody and shifted to Kothibagh Police Station.
