Srinagar, April 7 -- The Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) on Monday exposed what it called the "shameless double standards" of the National Conference (NC) over the controversial Waqf Bill, accusing the party of "playing a cruel joke" on the sentiments of the Muslim majority of Jammu & Kashmir.

In a scathing statement issued to the press, AIP Chief Spokesperson Inam Un Nabi tore into the NC's duplicity, saying, "NC's hypocrisy is touching new heights. On one hand, NC members are creating ruckus in the Assembly over the Waqf Bill, and on the other hand, the Speaker - who is from NC - is not even allowing a discussion on it.
