Uri, May 19 -- In a remarkable humanitarian effort, the administration in Sub-Division Uri successfully evacuated around 15,000 people within 48 hours following intense cross-border shelling earlier this month.

On May 7, a 24x7 Emergency Control Room was set up at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Uri under the supervision of SDM Uri. A dedicated team, including Javid Gani Banday, Aijaz Ahmad Lone, Javed Iqbal Budoo, Aftab Ahmad Kakroo, Aijaz Ahmad Chalkoo, and Mohammad Iqbal Banday, led the evacuation and relief operations.
