SRINAGAR, April 28 -- Wildlife Department Kashmir has warned against the sale, purchase, or possession of scheduled birds, calling it a criminal offence under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972.
As per an official communication issued from the office of Wildlife Warden, Wetlands Division Kashmir, Srinagar it has been informed that any individual or bird vendor found engaging in such activities will be subject to legal action.
As per Section 51 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, any person who contravenes the provisions of this Act shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to seven years or with a fine up to Rs 01 lakh, or both.
