Leh, Nov. 27 -- A delegation from Phobrang village today met with the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, and highlighted the urgent need for establishing ultra-small banks in remote border areas of the Union Territory.

The delegation informed the Lt Governor that due to Ladakh's challenging terrain and vast distances, local residents and Army personnel are forced to travel long and difficult routes to access basic banking services.

The Lt Governor agreed with the concerns raised and said that traditional large bank branches are often not feasible in such remote locations. He stressed that ensuring access to essential facilities-including banking-is a priority for the UT Administration.
