Srinagar, April 7 -- Two militants were killed in a gunfight with the government forces in south Kashmir's Shopian district on Saturday.

Reports said that a cordon was launched following credible inputs about the presence of some militants in an orchard in Pinjoora village.

The local news gathering agency GNS reported that soon after the joint team of government forces arrived in the area, the militant opened fire, leading to a brief shootout between militants and the forces.

The report said that two militants were killed during the gunfight. They were identified as Rahil Rashid Sheikh of Nunner area of central Kashmir's Ganderbal district, and Bilal Ahmad, a resident of Keegam, Shopian, said the report.
