GULMARG, Jan. 9 -- n a tragic incident, two Army porters lost their lives after slipping into a deep nallah in the snowbound Gulmarg area of north Kashmir's Baramulla district while moving towards a forward post, officials said on Friday.

The deceased have been identified as Layakat Ahmad Deedard (27), son of Ghulam Mohammad Deedard, resident of Masjid Aagan, Chandoosa, and Ishfaq Ahmad Khatana (33) son of Jamaludin Khatana, resident of Pachar, Chandoosa, Baramulla.

According to official sources, the two porters were part of a group assigned to assist the Army with logistical movement in the high-altitude area when they lost balance on a slippery, snow-covered stretch and fell into the ravine.
