Srinagar, Dec. 2 -- Every day in Jammu and Kashmir, especially in Srinagar city and other major towns, thousands of commuters begin their journey with a silent prayer: "Oh Lord, let there be no traffic jam today." Despite the construction of new roads and flyovers in recent years, the traffic mess continues to resurface every few hours, disturbing routine life and testing the patience of commuters. This recurring gridlock clearly reflects one truth: flyovers and new roads alone cannot solve the traffic problem.
