Srinagar, April 10 -- With the frequent rainfall and improvement in weather, the hydel power generation in Jammu and Kashmir has increased by 44 percent in a month.
Earlier, the Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Department was facing 84.17 percent dip in power generation owing to the low water level and was generating only 16 percent of energy.
A top official informed KNO that the Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Corporation (JKSPDC) recorded a peak hydel power generation of 721 Megawatts (MWs) from the local plants.
"From the power plants of the Kashmir region, the department is currently able to produce 110 MWs of power and in case of power plants in Jammu, the peak generation is 611MW," the official said.
