Srinagar, March 17 -- A Kashmiri shawl trader was beaten up and allegedly robbed of money by a group of people near Park Circus Station of Sealdah division's south section in Kolkata, West Bengal, media reports said.

Shakoor Ahmad Shah, a resident of Soibugh village of central Kashmir's Budgam district was hit in the head and attacked with a knife, inflicting injuries to his stomach on Friday night.

The assailants also escaped with his bag containing Rs 1.95 lakh, said a report.

They said that Kolkata police has also filed a First Information Report (FIR) with the Ballygunge Railway station. However, no one has been arrested in this connection so far.
