Baramulla, Dec. 26 -- The mother of senior journalist Karamat Qayoom passed away after a prolonged illness in the early hours of Tuesday. She was 102.

The departed soul, known for her piety, simplicity, and dignified life, is survived by a large and respectable family. Her Namaz-e-Janazah was offered at 11:30 AM at Eidgah-e-Qadeem, Baramulla.

A large number of people from different walks participated in her funeral prayers and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family. Members of the journalistic fraternity, social and political activists, traders, legal luminaries, religious scholars, and civil society representatives thronged the residence to offer condolences.
