Srinagar, May 17 -- The heatwave tightened its grip in Jammu and Kashmir with Srinagar, the summer capital of the region, among three places recording the season's hottest day on Saturday.

Srinagar recorded the season's hottest day at 31.5 degrees Celsius while Jammu and Qazigund, recorded the hottest day of the season at 41.0 degrees Celsius and 32.0 degrees Celsius respectively.

The details further reveal that Kokernag in south Kashmir recorded a day temperature of 30.0 degrees Celsius while Pahalgam, recorded 29.0 degrees Celsius.

In north Kashmir's Kupwara district, the mercury settled at 30.0 degrees Celsius, while 22.2 degrees Celsius temperature was recorded in Gulmarg.
