Srinagar, April 28 -- CPI(M) leader and Kulgam MLA M.Y. Tarigami on Sunday strongly condemned the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, while criticising the government's ongoing demolition drives targeting properties allegedly linked to militants.
Tarigami asserted that punishing family members or neighbours for the alleged crimes of an individual is unjust and counterproductive.
"If a son has done anything wrong, his father, family, or even his neighbour should not be punished," Tarigami said in a statement. He reminded that the Supreme Court has consistently upheld the right to shelter as a fundamental right for every citizen. "If a son is guilty, his father or any other family member cannot be considered punishable," he reiterated.
