New Delhi, Dec. 16 -- The Government of India is implementing major hydropower and renewable energy initiatives in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir to strengthen power infrastructure and promote clean energy, the Union Minister of State for Power and New & Renewable Energy, Shripad Naik, informed the Rajya Sabha today in a written reply.

The Minister stated that NHPC Limited, a Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Power, is implementing four major hydropower projects in Jammu and Kashmir with a total installed capacity of 3,014 MW through joint venture companies with Jammu & Kashmir State Power Development Corporation (JKSPDC).
