JAMMU, Dec. 4 -- The Foundation Day of Assam and Nagaland was celebrated in Jammu Kashmir Lok Bhavan in the presence of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. Statehood was officially conferred to Nagaland on 1 December 1963, while Assam celebrates its Foundation Day on 2nd December.

The Foundation Day programme was organised as part of the 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' initiative of the Government of India.

Addressing the gathering, Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha said celebration of the foundation days of other states and Union Territories in the Lok Bhavans across the country has strengthened the cultural bonds and inspired citizens to learn about other states' unique traditions, languages, while building a deep bond of brotherhood.
