SRINAGAR, Dec. 20 -- To mark the commencement of Chilai-e-Kalan, the Handicrafts & Handloom Department organised Pheran Day with much fanfare at Kashmir Haat, Srinagar, celebrating the traditional winter attire of Kashmir.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg, inaugurated the Pheran Day and Jashn-e-Chilai-Kalan, symbolizing the beginning of the forty-day cold winter period in the Valley.
On the occasion, the Divisional Commissioner visited various stalls set up by local artisans showcasing traditional winter wear, including pherans and blankets, aimed at promoting indigenous handicrafts and handloom products.
