Srinagar, Dec. 2 -- A local court here has sentenced a man to life imprisonment under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The accused, Varinder Thakur, son of Yadav Lal Thakur, resident of Sariswa, Bihar, was awarded life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs.50,000 by the Court of Principal Sessions Judge, Ganderbal, under Section 06 of POCSO Act. The accused has also been sentenced under Section 342 IPC for one year imprisonment with a fine of Rs.1,000, and under Section 506 IPC for two years imprisonment with a fine of Rs.2,000, a police spokesperson informed Monday.
