Srinagar, March 6 -- The Jammu and Kashmir government on Thursday said it has successfully bio-remediated 4.26 lakh metric tons of legacy waste dumped at various landfill sites across the Union Territory.
In a written response to a question of MLA Mir Mohammad Fayaz in the Assembly, chief minister Omar Abdullah, who happens to be in-charge of the Housing and Urban Development department, as per the news agency-Kashmir News Observer (KNO), informed that currently, 33 Mechanical Segregation Machines are operational in J&K for effective waste management.
He assured that additional machines are being procured under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) as per the approved plan, following the proper procurement process.
