INFORMATION GATHERING ACTIVITIES BY THE SDF NECESSARY FOR ENSURING THE SAFETY OF JAPAN -RELATED VESSELS IN THE MIDDLE EAST

TOKYO, Aug. 29 -- Joint Staff issued the following press release:

1. Status of Activity Area No abnormalities were confirmed in the areas where the SDF operated

2. JS ASAHI (Deployment Surface Force for Counter-Piracy Enforcement) (1) Area of Activity: the high seas of the Gulf of Oman and the high seas of the northern Arabian sea

(2) Number of confirmed vessels: 74 ships (Accumulated Total (AT): 96,148 ships)

3. P-3C (Deployment Air Force for Counter-Piracy Enforcement) (1) Area of Activity: the high seas of Gulf of Aden and the high seas of the western part of the northern Arabian Sea

(2) Number of confirmed vessels: 539 ships (AT: 90,778 ships)
